Authentic Engagement for Councillors
Being an elected official on a city or shire council is hard work, and involves a lot of engagement and communication with community members and residents. This workshop is centred on developing skills to facilitate and grow genuine connections between councillors and constituents, thereby increasing trust, communication and confidence. Content of this workshop includes:
- Understanding and defining “authentic engagement”
- Genuine connections with constituents
- Factors that impede authentic engagement
- Ten key principles to authentically engaging with community members:
- Sending the right message
- Understanding your audience
- Respecting diversity
- Being present
- Body language
- Listening with the intent to understand
- Being curious
- Considerate responses
- Avoid arguing
- Wrapping up respectfully
- Self-reflection and group discussion
Cost: $3,000.00, plus GST
